Tucker Carlson is leaving Fox News, in an abrupt shake-up for Rupert Murdoch’s television network just days after it agreed to settle a defamation lawsuit over accusations it aired false theories about US election fraud.
The two sides “have agreed to part ways”, Fox said in a brief statement on Monday, sending shockwaves across US media circles. “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
The press release did not include any comment from Carlson nor any recognition of his status as one of the network’s most popular personalities. His show scheduled for Monday night will take place without him.
