The US on Thursday condemned the shelling of a UN facility in Gaza by the Israeli military as “totally unacceptable and totally indefensible” and said Israel needed to do more to protect innocent civilians.
Urging Israel to end its deadly ground operation in Gaza, Josh Earnest, White House spokesman, told journalists: “Israel talks frequently about the importance it places on sparing civilian lives but the United States believes its government and military are not doing enough to that end.
“The shelling of a UN facility that is housing innocent civilians who are fleeing violence is totally unacceptable and totally indefensible,” he added, also calling on Hamas to stop firing rockets into Israel.
