China’s exports to the US are set to fall this year for the first time since the height of the global financial crisis.
The value of merchandise imports from China has fallen 4.7 per cent, based on annualised data for the first 10 months of 2016, according to Standard Chartered.
US president-elect Donald Trump has threatened to impose tariffs of up to 45 per cent on goods from China, suggesting that exports to the US could decline still further in coming years.
