Joe Biden?defended his legacy on Monday, using his speech on the first night of the Democratic convention to list his administration’s achievements and call on his party to rally behind Kamala Harris.
The president called on US voters to “put a prosecutor in the Oval Office, not a convicted felon”, in a reference to Harris’s history as an attorney in California and Republican Donald Trump’s conviction in a New York criminal trial earlier this year.
“America: I love you. Folks, let me ask you, are we ready to vote for freedom? Are we ready to vote for democracy and for America? Let me ask you, are we ready to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz as the next president and vice-president of the United States?”
